Want to heal your gut? The absolute first thing yo Want to heal your gut? The absolute first thing you need to do might surprise you: stop drinking liquids with your meals. 🛑💦
It is such a common habit, but gulping down drinks—and especially carbonated beverages—while you eat is a major roadblock for your digestion.
Here is why:

It dilutes your digestive juices: Your stomach needs strong acid and enzymes to break down food properly. Flooding it with liquid weakens that environment, leading to sluggish digestion and fermentation.

Carbonation adds trapped gas: Fizzy drinks introduce extra air directly into your digestive tract, which is a fast track to severe bloating and discomfort.

The Fix: Try to stop drinking fluids 30 minutes before you eat, and wait about 30 to 45 minutes after your meal to hydrate. If you absolutely need something to help get your food down, stick to tiny sips of room-temperature water.

Are you guilty of drinking a massive glass of water (or a sparkling drink!) with dinner? Let me know in the comments! 👇

When the world feels too loud and your nervous sys When the world feels too loud and your nervous system is in overdrive, sometimes you need a little extra support from nature. 🌿

While sunshine, movement, and breathwork are our daily anchors, incorporating plant medicine can be a gentle, powerful way to tell your body, "You are safe."

Here are our go-to herbs for calming a busy mind and easing stress:

✨ Ashwagandha: A powerful adaptogen that helps balance cortisol levels and builds resilience to daily stress.

✨ Lemon Balm: Incredibly soothing for the nervous system and great for easing that "knot" in your stomach when anxiety hits (hello, gut-brain connection!).

✨ Passionflower: The ultimate mental off-switch. Perfect for calming racing thoughts and promoting deep, restorative sleep.

Herbs work beautifully alongside mindful habits to soothe your nervous system from the inside out. Whether in a warm cup of tea, a tincture, or as part of a meal, plants have a profound way of bringing us back to center. 🪴

Stress has a way of becoming so normalised that we Stress has a way of becoming so normalised that we stop noticing the physical signs it's leaving behind:a tight jaw, shallow breathing, disrupted sleep, a stomach that's never quite settled.

These aren't separate, unrelated issues; they're often your nervous system's way of telling you it's been running on high alert for too long. Left unaddressed, chronic stress doesn't just affect how you feel day to day, it can genuinely impact your digestion, immunity and long-term mental health.

The good news is stress management isn't about eliminating every stressor in your life, it's about giving your nervous system real tools to come back down. Whether that looks like naturopathic support for the physical toll or working with a psychologist on what's driving it, we can help you look at both sides.

Save this post and check in with yourself this week, and when you're ready for support, you can book online through our website — thewellnessemporium.com.au

GUT HEALTH SERIES: PART 3 🥗🥂 In our final video o GUT HEALTH SERIES: PART 3 🥗🥂

In our final video of the series, Elisha shares two major dietary tips for protecting your gut during perimenopause and menopause!

🍷 Minimize Alcohol: We hate to kill the party, but too much alcohol will negatively impact your microbiome. Minimizing it is a great step for your gut health.

🌾 Fiber is King: Pay extra attention to your diet and get as much fiber as you can tolerate. A healthy microbiome should be able to handle a wide variety of plant foods.

Struggling to tolerate certain foods? Don't just remove them! Going restrictive and removing prebiotic fibers can actually starve your good bacteria and lead to a vicious cycle of other issues. Instead, it’s crucial to investigate why your body isn't tolerating them so you can address the root cause.

Elisha is here to help you figure out exactly what is going on with your gut. She consults online so you can get expert care from anywhere.

Stress is one of those things almost everyone expe Stress is one of those things almost everyone experiences but very few people are taught how to actually manage, so a lot of misinformation fills the gap.

The truth is stress isn't just a mindset issue; it has real physiological effects on your body, and 'just push through it' is often the advice that leads to burnout rather than away from it.

On the flip side, you don't need to overhaul your entire life to feel the benefit, small, sustainable changes to how you regulate your nervous system day to day tend to make a bigger difference than dramatic, short-lived changes.

If stress has been building for a while and you're not sure where to start, that's exactly what we're here for.

If you are logging 8 hours of sleep but still waki If you are logging 8 hours of sleep but still waking up feeling like you’ve run a marathon, your nervous system might be stuck in "threat" mode. Sleep isn't restorative if your body doesn't feel safe enough to truly power down.

Healing chronic fatigue starts with looking at your waking hours: where are you rushing, masking, or pushing through? 🌿💤
